Newquay Holidays: What To See and Do When You Visit Newquay

Especially if you're part of the younger generation who head to Cornwall, chances are that Newquay is high up on your list. There are ten different beaches in the town but there are lots of other things to keep you occupied on your holiday in Newquay.

Surfers from all corners of the world come to Newquay and each year there is an annual surfing competition that takes place. This means that during the summer season especially the town offers a wealth of attractions and great nightlife as well. But, along with its role as a surfers haven this town is popular with families as well. In fact, during the summer months the population of the town very nearly rises four fold.

Newquay's climate is milder than most of the rest of Britain during the summer the weather is usually quite warm with very little chance of rain occurring. The winter months are warmer as well, being "cool" as opposed to cold or frozen. Which makes Newquay an ideal place to visit throughout the year, just remember to bring some warm clothing if visit during the winter or spring months.

Years ago, the town was a busy port (although small compared to those of Portsmouth and Plymouth), but now it has become a hot spot for tourists instead. Because of its popularity, if you decide to stay in Newquay whether for a few days or a week then it's best to book your Newquay hotel early.

However, if you are looking to avoid all the tourists and enjoy what this town has to offer then a good time is during April and May. The weather in these months is reasonable and it's normally quite warm (but not baking hot) then. One of the best things about visiting Newquay "off season" is that the beaches are almost completely empty.

If you're not part of the beach and surfing crowd, there are lots of other things to keep you occupied in the area. For instance, the town's zoo will keep children happy for hours and the Blue Reef Aquarium is also high up on most people's lists. And if surfing seems too energetic, why not hire a body board instead?

When you're looking for a Newquay hotel or guest house, you have a number of choices available to you. Either you can select to stay in one of Newquay's hotels or if you want to get a little more feel for the kinds of lives that the locals lead then staying in one of the family run guesthouses or B&B's is a far better option for you. They are also usually a cheaper option than a hotel if your budget is limited.
