Brighton became a popular tourist destination in the eighteenth century, although people have been living in the town since before the Domesday Book was created. With the arrival of the railway into this seaside resort in 1841 many people from London would travel down to Brighton for a day. Once people discovered what the town had to offer on a day trip, they started to stay here for longer periods. Today the draw of what Brighton has to offer is still drawing people from not just around the UK but around the world to visit it.
This is why there are so many places for one to stay in. There are modern boutique hotels along with small privately owned guest houses. Whatever your budget, you'll find good quality accomodation in the town. Here, we'll take a look at a few of the places you could choose in this popular coastal town.
1. Ambassador – This four star bed and breakfast can be found in New Steine in the centre of Brighton and is situated just a few minutes' walk from the beach and all that this seaside resort has to offer. Originally a town house this turned into a bed and breakfast a number of years ago with comortable rooms complete with modern facilities.
2. Marine View Hotel – This is conveniently located in the centre of the town and the rooms offer wonderful views of a Garden Square as well as the sea and of course Brighton Pier. Again the rooms are very stylish and meet all the standards you'd expect from a modern hotel.
3. The Grand – Probably the most famous Brighton hotel and is prominently located on Brighton's seafront. The hotel is associated with luxury accommodation and is very stylish. Originally opened in 1864 when every one of the 300 rooms were booked it has seen much happen between its walls since then.
The hotel hit the news in 1984 when it was subject to a failed assasination attempt on Margaret Thatcher. Although severely damaged by the bomb blast it was restored to its former glory and reopened its doors to guests once more in 1986. The hotel's owners took the opportunity to modernize the rooms during this refurbishment.
4. Cecil House Hotel – This isn't as lavish as The Grand but Cecil House offers a good selection of reasonably priced rooms. It looks out over Brighton's West Pier and you are just a short walk away from Pebble Beach. Two thirds of the hotel's rooms have sea views whilst the others have a view of a hidden French church in Brighton's back streets.
5. Sea Spray – If you're looking for a romantic weekend away or a special treat for yourself, the Sea Spray should be on your shortlist. This is Brighton's leading boutique hotel with all the "extras" you would expect from such an establishment. Because of its location on Brighton's seafront it offers wonderful views of the pier and sea.
Choose your next Brighton hotel or bed and breakfast from this list.
