Where To Stay When You Visit the Isle of Skye

Of all the islands to be found off of the coast of Scotland, the Isle of Skye is one of the most famous. It is popular with visitors who visit the island for the great climbing and walking it offers. Because of the increased number of visitors to the island when it comes to where to stay on Isle of Skye you have a number of different options available to you. 

Along with some hotels, there are also B and B's, self-catering cottages, guesthouses, hostels, camp and caravan sites as well. Here we will take a look at just some of the accommodation that is available on the island.

Some of the hotels and hostels on the Isle of Skye only offer their guests breakfast, leaving you free to eat out elsewhere for other meals. But there are also some which offer you the option to eat dinner at them as well. But if you are on a limited budget then it may pay you to stay in one which offers special rates if you opt to have both breakfast and dinner at them. If you are on a very limited budget or prefer the flexibility then you may think about staying at one where you only are required to pay for your room whilst you stay there.

Another option to consider is renting a cottage instead. This is especially good if you are intending to spend a week or more on the Isle of Skye. They are ideal if you like the freedom to do as you please, when you want and don't want to keep to other people's timescales. 

The summer season  books up early in Scotland, especially on popular places like Skye, so book well in advance to get your preferred location. If you do not you may well find yourself in a situation where you are unable to get the accommodation that you wanted. 

However, if you are intending to visit the island during the colder winter and spring months then you should ensure that you take plenty of warm clothing with you.  And remember to pack a rain coat as at these times of years the rain and snow are likely to be more prevalent.
