Where To Stay In Whitby

Whitby is found on the north east coast of England in the county of North Yorkshire close to the town of Scarborough.  It is still a working fishing port as well as a tourist destination and is located at the mouth of the river Esk. Although there is plenty for one to see and do when you stay in Whitby but you are also only a short distance from the city of York and other fascinating attractions.

When you stay in Whitby you will soon find yourself spoilt for choice with lots of accommodation to choose from. Here we'll look at a small selection of the accommodation that the coastal town of Whitby offers its visitors.

1.     The Saxonville Hotel – This hotel is located on the West Cliff and is a few minutes away from the town's narrow streets and alleys. The hotel has been owned by the same family since 1946 and the accommodation is comfortable. 2.    Durnsley Hall Country House Hotel – This can be found just outside the town and is an ideal base for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area. You are just a short drive from the North Yorkshire National Park and the North York Moors. And in Whitby you can visit Castle Howard which featured in the TV series Brideshead Revisited. Although it only has 18 rooms all have been beautifully furnished with their own individual design and some even have four poster beds. The rooms either have sea views or look out over the grounds of the hotel. 

3.    Ruswarp Hall – This is a 400 year old Jacobean Hall which is situated by a country path one mile from Whitby. It is located close to the river Esk and along with top class accommodation it has much to offer its guests. Because of its location one can enjoy a spot of fishing or boating, plus there is a 9 hole golf course that guests can enjoy.

4.    White Linen Guesthouse – Located in a Georgian townhouse which has been beautifully renovated it is situated in the heart of the city. It is ideal for couples or families and has everything you could wish for whilst staying in Whitby. All the rooms within the hotel have been well furnished and have en-suite facilities. The rooms are also very comfortable so relaxing after spending hours exploring the town and the surrounding area should not be a problem.
